Jody Loving
Having fallen in love with yoga nearly 15 years ago, Jody continues to be surprised and delighted by the practice and considers it an honor to share her love of mindful movement as an instructor. She believes yoga is for everybody and aims for her students to feel grounded, empowered, and free as they explore the depths of their bodies and hearts.
Jody became a certified instructor in 2012 under the guidance of Ossi Raveh and others at Prana Power Yoga in Brooklyn. Since then, she has studied with many incredible teachers, including Schuyler Grant and Nikki Vilella of Kula Yoga Project, Be Shakti (Yin Yoga), Allegra and Nancy Romita (Functional Awareness – Anatomy in Action), and most recently, Chrissy Carter (Yogaworks), with whom she will have completed an additional 300 hours of advanced training by the end of 2021. Jody is inspired and humbled by how much there is to learn and knows that as she stays on this path of inquiry, her practice and teachings will continue to evolve and grow.
Jody’s background as a trained actor and singer (MFA in Acting from The American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco) has exposed her to a variety of movement modalities, including Laban, Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique, and Middendorf Breathexperience, and she brings this body of knowledge to bear in her her teaching, as well as her passion for connection and creative expression, and a decent sense of humor. She is thrilled to be a part of the kind and creative Beacon community, and looks forward to meeting you on and off the mat!
